Developer and publisher Microids presents Syberia 3, a standard point-and-click game which provide a player with a more calming game experience than traditional action/adventure games. Moving away from explosions and shootout experience, Syberia 3 is focused on intrigue, puzzles and drama.
The player is controlling Kate Walker, the main character of the game. In order to successfully complete the game the player is supposed to search and find the proper item while listening the stories including clues told by some eccentric characters. If the player fails to complete his mission, the steampunk-esque fictional world of Syberia, with a diverse environment and characters, will devour him or her.
While creating Syberia 3 Microids used Unity engine in order to enable the easiest cross platform workflows and allows studios to target several platform at once. While loading new areas proved to occasionally result in a pause of the game in the early development of the game, the problem may be solved in the final version. Additionally, the developed adapted the controls to the consoles, e.g. the protagonist is moved with the left stick while the interaction is started with the face buttons. The fixing of the items will also be proven a little bit more difficult – in demo Kate had to decide which part of the doorbell need to be fixed specifically by watching it from every angle.
The development of the game resulted in the quite-realistic look of the game, even though the developed defined it as “surrealistic”.
